Isla Grande, Panama
Drove about an hour and a half from Panama City and took a tiny motor boat to Isla Grande today! Past curvy roads and colorful houses with stray dogs wandering about, you can hire a local boat owner to motor you across the small stretch of water to the island. There were a few kids playing around on the beach, and they were very eager to help carry towels and bags to the boat. Pro tip: negotiate with the locals a pickup time from the island back to mainland, and hold payment for a specific boat owner to ensure a guaranteed ride back. Perfect weather, about 80 degrees, cloudy, and not humid at all. This hidden beach is pretty small, since not many people go during the week, and much more relaxing and private. For a few dollars, you can negotiate with the hotel on the island to use their outdoor showers to rinse off.
