The Potato Grave

Paris, France

While in Paris, we visited Pere Lachaise, which is a famous French Cemetery for the rich and famous. A nice French man led us around the cemetery and we saw several important graves. However, among the 50(+) graves we saw, this one stuck out as the most memorable. At first we thought it was covered in rocks (maybe, we thought, French people leave rocks instead of flowers?), but then our guide told us it was actually covered in potatoes! And because the person who the grave belonged to was known for bringing potatoes to main-stream consumption in France. What a way to leave your mark on France! Love how people, hundreds of years later, still remember his contributions and leave potatoes at his grave.
